Sprayed gasps of drizzle; cloud shrouded commons and moorland; late snowdrops and early daffodils. With up to 15 hectares per resident, early March saw my final winter foray, this time into the northeastern corner of the Taw watershed. From the edges of Exmoor, you can sometimes see right across to the other side on the northern reaches of Dartmoor. West Anstey, East Anstey, Molland, Twitchen, Knowstone, and Bishop’s Nympton parishes hold some of Devon’s emptiest and unseen non-national park land. Wild indeed.
